There is a term that refers to Americans who have no respect for other cultures, expect everyone to speak their language, and just have no respect for anyone that is different. That term is "ugly American". Most Americans are kind, good people but there a few who act in such a way that we all look bad. This post is about one of those people.
One morning, I was at the McDonalds in Songtan drinking a cup of coffee. There was a table of 2 American soldiers and their wives. One of the wives was loud and every other word was a cuss word. She also directed a lot of her hatred towards the young women working behind the counter. I could sense that they were very uncomfortable, if not downright scared. She was one of the most foul, abusive people that I have ever had the displeasure of seeing in public.
She made me ashamed to be from the United States. She made me want to apologize to every single South Korean that I will ever meet. I do hope that the rest of the Americans aren't judged by the actions of a few pitiful human beings. I do believe in Karma. I do believe that the good that you show will come back to you many times over. I also believe that the opposite is true. While I wish the woman no harm, I will tell her to watch out, it's coming!
