South Koreans Love Golf

When you ride the train between Songtan and Seoul, you will see dozens of golf driving ranges. They are evident due to the green mesh that covers the range. I was lucky enough to go to the range a few times with some friends. They go to the golf driving range almost every day of the week. At 6:00 in the morning they are at the tee. The place that I went to was extremely nice. I think it had 3 levels or maybe more. Going to the range was more than just hitting a ball. It is a social event. It is where friends have a chance to socialize. While golf is important, I got the feeling that being with friends was even more important.

I have hardly ever hit a golf ball. It only took one swing for everyone to know it. Everyone was really helpful. They loaned me clubs and gave me a lot of advice. At times I was given too much advice and hit the ball poorly. Still, I had so much fun and it was definitely a trip highlight.
