Korean Teabowls That I Bought On My Trip 한국 차 그릇 내가 내 여행에 구입

I bought these 2 bowls during my trip to South Korea. I bought them in a tea shop after being served tea in a traditional Korean tea service. I enjoyed the experience and wish that I would have had more time to do this again before I left. This little tea shop was located in the Insadong area in Seoul. There are several other similar places like it nearby. You can ask the tourist center in the area or one of the tourist guides that wear red jackets for directions.

The tea service is free. There is no obligation to buy anything. I did, because I wanted a small souvenir to remind me of my first tea service. I am also a potter and I would like to create some Korea teabowls of my own. To tell the truth, that is the real reason. The bowls were very affordable. I paid 10,000 Won, or about $9 US with the exchange rate at the time that I was there.

For the potters out there. I noticed that most of the Korea teabowls are the same size. They are about 3 inches wide and the bowl is about 1 1/2 inches deep. There is another, smaller bowl that I have seen and actually used. It was always used for green tea. So, I assume that green tea has its own bowl. I really have no idea, but that was my personal observation. The ones that I used had a green celadon on the outside of the bowl and a white glaze on the inside. They were also smaller than the traditional teabowls that I bought.

The teabowls have a very light ash glaze on them. Most of the color is from the clay. I like that they are very basic. They seem like the type of bowl that would be for everyday use. I plan to use them, unlike most of the pottery that I buy.
