Copper Red Firing 구리 빨간 발사

I decided that I am going to fire a kiln load or two of copper reds. The copper red glaze is very popular in South Korea. I've always wanted to fire some, but I never did. I am motivated after seeing beautiful they are in person. These are some examples of copper red glazed pots that I saw in South Korea.

I have a bunch of porcelain bottles that I don't want anymore. I like my white stoneware bottles a little better for wood firing. Also, I changed the bottle shape for the porcelain clay and it is a little fat looking for my taste. Also, copper reds look best on porcelain.

The copper glaze runs badly. If you aren't careful, the glaze can run off of the pot and on to the kiln shelf. I made some small trays to catch any glaze that runs. It was nice to dust off my slab roller and use it for something other than a table.

I'm not sure which glaze recipes that I'll use yet. One of my potters friends wants me to try his copper red. I'm sure that I will. I'll probably try to find 2 more recipes out of my glaze book.
