I made these paddles out of oak. I also stained them so that they would last longer. I put 2 coats of wood stain on them. They looked a lot better with just one coat. Each paddle took many hours to complete. The part that took the longest was the wood burning. My tool would only burn about an inch before it would get too cool to work. I would then have to wait several minutes for it to heat up again.

The pattern reminds me of a snowflake. I am surprised that this pattern looks so nice. I will use this paddle when I make bowls or other pots.
