This bottle is made out of white stoneware clay and does not have any glaze on it. It was wood fired for 3 days in a large train kiln. The kiln was reduction cooled. To reduction cool a kiln, you close the kiln up tightly after you have finished your firing. Then, you add a small piece of wood or two to the kiln as soon as there is no smoke coming from the closed kiln. You continue this until the kiln was cooled down for several hours.

This would be the side of the bottle that was facing the fire box. It will have the most ash glaze. Also, when there is sufficient glaze, the glaze will start to run. It can form nice drips like this.
