First Day Of Intermediate Korean Language Class 중급 한국어 언어 클래스의 첫 번째 날

I started my intermediate level of Korean language class tonight. Even though I have been studying regularly, I feel like I don't know a single word of Korean. This class is going to be very challenging. I was hoping that the class size would be small, so we could get a little extra help. We have 23 students and there is just room for about 20. I hoping it would have been more like 8. One person did quit during the first class, so that will help a little with the seating next week.

Our teacher is nice. She substituted in my beginner Korean class once. I do have a very hard time understanding her. Her accent is very thick. Towards the end of the second hour, I started hearing her a little better. Maybe I'll be able to improve my listening skills by just being in her class.

Our class uses the Dynamic Korean Workbook 2. The teacher copies the text book pages that we need for us. All of the study materials are included in the $20 US class fee. That is a good price for 12 weeks of instruction plus a free celebration meal after class is over.

We spent most of our class time getting to know our fellow students, studying emotions, and taking a test to show much we already know or don't know. This week, I have to study Chapter 1 in my workbook. I probably need to spend 10 hours every week working on homework to be able to keep up with the class.

I must admit, after about 30 minutes into tonight's lesson I thought about going back to beginner class and taking it again. However, I really do want to learn Korean. I know it is not going to be easy. I just have to remember how uncomfortable I was in South Korea last year. I want to have a much better experience this year.
