This bottle is half good and half ugly. It definitely needs to be fired another time or two. The wood ash pattern is flaky looking and just plain not attractive. I also don't like the wadding marks. They give the bottle a face. I don't like that. There is some nice color though.

This bottle was fired in the double catenary arch kiln. This kiln has two sides. They can be fired seperately or together. The right side of the kiln is a wood fired soda chamber. The left side is wood fired only. This kiln is very efficient and fires easily. It does have some problems with getting the temperature at the top and bottom evened out. However, it isn't that hard to correct.

Here is where the bottle was located. It is one of the bottles in this stack. We were running out of pots so we just tried to see how many of the bottles we could stack on the top shelf. There were actually a couple more on top of these but they got knocked into the firebox during the firing. It was too bad that this happened early in the firing. The bottles were too insulated by the coal bed to be of any value.
