I finally upgraded my big camera. I've owned a Canon 10D for a couple of years. I bought it used at my favorite local camera shop, the Camera Co-op, for around $200. I highly recommend the employees and the services that the shop provides. I've also bought a medium format camera there, a Mamiya RB 67 Pro SD. I try to buy as many items as I can locally. If we don't shop at these local stores, they will disappear. Unfortunately, I bought my camera online. Camera Co-op hadn't had one in stock for awhile. I tried. The disaster in Japan has really hurt the supply of camera gear that is available. Two days after I bought my Canon 7D, they were out of stock at B&H. I feel fortunate.

I couldn't wait any longer to buy the camera. I need to learn all of the functions before I leave on my trip to South Korea. Practice, practice, practice, will be my focus for the next few weeks. I need to test it out this weekend and make sure it works properly. I have no doubt that it will work perfectly.

I would like to thank Cory Lum for his advice on which camera to purchase. It was so long ago that he probably doesn't remember giving it to me. The thing that finally sold on me was seeing some videos that were made using the Canon 7D. I am beyond amazed at the quality of video that this camera produces. While it is possible that I never make a video, it is good to know that it is possible with this camera. The only drawback to the new camera is that some of my Canon products don't fit the 7D. I have to buy more batteries and I need some faster compact flash cards for some applications. The regular compact flash cards will work for most picture opportunities. Still, this is a small problem. I will also need a new software program to manage the big files. That will require even more practice, practice, practice.
