Preparing For A Korean Tutoring Session 한국어 수업 세션에 대 한 준비

Tonight is my weekly Korean tutoring session. I feel so lucky to have found someone to help me with my Korean studies. It is beyond belief that I found an experienced tutor who speaks perfect English and has taught Korean for several years.

After my session, I talk to her and her husband about travelling to Korea. I have been picking up some good information about this year's trip. My teacher lived in South Korea for 20 to 25 years. Her husband taught English there for several years. I am also learning a lot about Korean customs and other aspects of South Korean life.

I decided to simplify my lesson tonight. Last week I tried to cover too much material and I don't think I learned as much as I could have. Tonight, I plan on doing a review of my knowledge of basic Korean sentence structure. I know this reasonably well, however I plan to use this as something to build on in future tutoring sessions. Finally, I need to work on my reading and pronunciation skills. You can have all of the Korean language knowledge in the world, however it does you no good if you can't pronounce the words correctly.

I have the most trouble with the vowels o, u, yo, yu, eo, yeo, a, and ya. It is probably funny to listen to our lessons when I practice these. Some of these sound exactly the same to me. Some of my English sounds, like g and k, and t and d, sound the same to her. I think we sometimes repeat a sound 10 or 15 times each in the space of 30 seconds. Now that I think about it, it has to be funny.
