This is the second version of this Korean folk tale. This is one of the more unusual ones that I have found. I have developed a big interest in these Korean folk tales and the lessons that they teach. Rather than come up with a moral for each tale, I'll let you come up with your own.
A long time ago there lived a young maiden who farted. The maiden farted all day long. The maiden farted when she worked, she ate, and when she slept. The young maiden was married to a man in a nearby village. The maiden did a good job doing her housework and was loved by her husband and his parents.
However, the young maiden couldn't fart when she wanted. She became very sick. One day, her husband's parents called to her and asked if she was sick. The young maiden was embarrassed, but told them that she became sick when she couldn't fart any more. The clueless mother in law and father in law gave her permission to fart whenever she wanted.
The maiden was very happy that she could now fart now. She then farted very loudly and the whole house shook. Her husband's parents told her to warn them in the future when she had to fart.
