My Korean Education 내 한국어 교육

Recently, I completed my final class at the Houston Korean Education Center. They have a Beginner, Intermediate, and an Advanced class. While I can only speak and read a little Korean, I had a lot of fun and the information that I learned definitely helped me while I was in South Korea. The school is sponsored by the South Korean Consulate. For only $20 US, you can take 12 classes that are 2 hours long each. That is a fantastic deal. I think that most of the Korean consulates around the United States offer this. I can't take any more classes there now, but I can attend as a helper to the beginner and intermediate classes. I just might do that.

I also have completed 3 semesters at the DRAW Academy Korean School. I have learned most of my Korean there. It is more of a school and less of a social setting where you have fun learning Korean. At both locations, the teachers are great. The DRAW classes are 3 hour classes for a 15 week semester. The cost is a little higher, $150 US. Still, that is a bargain. I really feel fortunate to have these schools available to me. I tried learning on my own, but it is virtually impossible. Houston has even more Korean school opportunities at a couple other schools that I am aware of.

I would say that the thing that helped me the most was hiring a tutor. It took me forever to find one.  I was lucky that my first teacher agreed to tutor me once or twice a week. So, if it is possible I feel that a tutor will help you more than any book or school. Now, I am only going to the DRAW school, studying on my own, and my new Korean girlfriend is now my tutor. While I know that I will never be very good at Korean, I will keep trying and I will have a lot of fun.
