My Current Korean Study Plan 나의 현재 한국 연구 계획

I have been studying Korean for about 1 1/2 years. I have learned some Korean, but not as much as I would like. I don't study every day or even very hard. But, I keep trying and some is actually sticking. On my first trip to South Korea I knew a little Korean. However, I only knew a few words and my pronunciation was terrible. On my second trip, I knew a lot more and it was really rewarding to hold small conversations in Korea. I can't wait until I am in South Korea again.

I will never be fluent in Korea. I know that. Someone who is younger and has more time to study should be able to pick it up faster. However, be forewarned, Korean is a difficult language to learn for English speakers. Here is my current Korean study plan. I plan to focus on grammar in my Korean school classes that start again in 2 weeks. I actually don't find Korean grammar much more difficult than English. I am working with my pronunciation, speaking, and reading with my Korean girlfriend. This is yet another reason to study Korean.

 On my own, I am trying to increase my vocabulary. I would say that this is my biggest weakness. I have a list of vocabulary words that I keep in my bedroom and in my car. Every time that I get a break, I study them. I break the list into groups of 10 and study them until I have them memorized. I am working on the beginner list (895 words) that I found on a website. Someone did a very good job putting a list of the most commonly used words in the Korean language. When I went over the list, I found that I knew between 50 and 60% of them. You will find the list of beginner words that I am studying. All total, there are 3 lists with somewhere between 5000 and 6000 words.
