Busan Versus Seoul Korean Accents 서울 한국어 악센트 대 부산

My Korean friends and my Korean language teachers have mentioned that people in Seoul and Busan have different accents when they speak. I have heard that they sometimes have a difficult time understanding each other. I really didn't notice much of a difference. If I had to guess, I would say that the Busan dialect was maybe a little thicker. It would be similar to the dialect of the people in the American midwest and northeast. I sometimes have a hard time understanding them. They also have a hard time understanding my Texas accent. I wish this language accent explained why the Korean people don't understand me when I am speaking to them. Sadly, it does not. It is most likely I have a very limited vocabulary and my basic pronunciation is not very good. Fortunately, by attending Korean language classes and speaking with Korean friends, this is improving.
