Trade Bottle From Ryder

It is common to trade pots during a big wood firing. Most potters make a few small cups or pots to trade with their new friends. This is a bottle that I received from Ryder during one of the Summer wood firing workshops at Northern Arizona University. Ryder was about to finish his degree and I know he went on to be a success at whatever profession he chose. He was a really nice guy. After a few years you can have quite a few pots from the other potters.

This bottle was glazed with a crackle slip. The clay slip will crawl and leave cracks on the surface. The wood kiln deposits ash in the cracks and it can look very nice. For some reason the glaze did not crawl very much. The crackle slip is very close to a shino.
