Red Bent Neck Bottle 레드 벤드 목 병

This bottle was fired in Helena, Montana. I attended a wood fire workshop with Tara Wilson at the Archie Bray Foundation. This vase was fired in the train kiln. I think we fired the kiln for 3 days. It was a fun firing with a bunch of great people.

I made the bottle out of a high iron stoneware. There is a thin flashing slip on the outside of the vase. That is what gives the vase a shiny, almost purple appearance. There is a fair amount of wood ash. The vase was located in the center of the kiln, so it did not get as much ash as I would have liked. This bottle was part of a group of vases that I altered for the first time. It was a lot of fun bending and adding texture to the bottles. I don't do much of that anymore, but I probably should.
