Here are some photos of the bottles individually. You will be able to see the one sided effect of the heavy ash from the firebox. Also, these bottles were fired on plaster wads. I'm not sure how I feel about the scars that they left. The plaster is able to handle the high heat of the firebox better than seashells or clay wadding. The plaster has the same basic composition as a seashell without the salt content. Sometimes, if a seashell is used in a high heat area it will cause the clay to flux. The clay in the area around the shell will melt and turn an ugly shade of green. Clay waddings in the high heat areas can be infused with melted ash and be hard to remove, both from the kiln and from the pot.

I would say that this first bottle is my favorite of the three. The bottle has character from the face that formed on the underside of the bottle. I do not like faces on woof fired bottles. This usually occurs when someone places the wads incorrectly. However, I like this one.

The second bottle is also nice. It does have an unique feature. A piece of the kiln roof fell on the piece. Usually, this would be a major disappointment. However, it works well with a pot that is covered in thick ash. Also, the actual piece of roof has interest. It has an interesting shape and I can't actually determine what type of material it is. It is not from a hard brick, soft brick, or from any castable. It is a mystery. I like that.

This bottle has the most obvious scars from the plaster. I could grind them to make them less harsh. However, I like to leave my pots exactly as they come from the kiln. I don't mind sharp areas or cracks. They are part of the process. The fire was the creator. Who am I to second guess the creator.
