Do not cross an intersection unless the light tells you to. Even then, you are risking your life. Some intersections are so wide that you will really need to partially run to get across in time. Basically, here is my street crossing strategies. First, say a prayer , even if you are not religious. Two, get as close to some school children or old ladies as possible. While I don't think that the Korean drivers would worry too much about running over a foreigner, I am positive they wouldn't want to hit any small children or old ladies. Third, get across the street as fast as possible. If you see people running, you should run too. They most likely know how long the intersection light is. Fourth, if you made it across the street, say another prayer. It might just help you on your next crossing.
While I injected a little humor into this post (maybe), it really is very dangerous to cross the streets. I did not see many close calls with cars almost hitting people.
