I volunteer every Wednesday night and an occasional Saturday. I lead a support group for people with depression and bipolar disorders. I have led the group for the last year and a half. Our membership continues to grow. It is very rewarding to see people without hope come to our group and get better. Unfortunately, my Korean language class is going to be on Wednesdays starting in January. I'll have to miss 12 weeks of group. My group will be in good hands with one of my fellow volunteers.

Today was our annual Christmas party. About 40 people in the organization got together and had a great meal and just had fun visiting with each other. It is seldom that the volunteers get together. We have such a great group of people who give of themselves to the community. At the end of the party, we get a present. The board members spend a lot of time coming up with thoughtful gifts for each of us. I got a pottery book that I didn't have last year. It's actually one of the few pottery books that I didn't own, but actually wanted. This year, I got a quesadilla maker. The program director picked this particular gift because she said it fit someone who is creative. I think that is excellent. I plan to make me some creative quesadillas soon.

For those who don't know, a quesadilla is a type of Mexican food. Between 2 tortillas, thin sheets of non yeast bread, you spread a large amount of cheeze, maybe some cooked meat, and then some vegetables. Onion and peppers are almost always added. Some people like plain cheeze quesadillas. The quesadilla is placed in a large pan and cooked until the cheeze melts. The quesadillo is then cut into pieces like a pizza. I guess that another way of looking at is that a quesadilla is a small Mexican pizza with a crust on top and bottom. Whatever it is, it is delicious.
