Even though I won't be exchanging any US Dollars for Korean Won anytime soon, I still look at the exchange rate charts several times a week. Lately, you can get more Korean Won for every US Dollar that you sell. Basically, that means that you can buy more South Korean products for the same amount of US Dollars. When I was in South Korea in October, the exchange rate was almost 1200 Won per Dollar. Shortly afterwards it fell to around 1100 per dollar. You lose about 10% of your purchasing power. My hotel was $33 US in October. When the exchange rate dropped to 1100, it was $36 US.While that may not seem like much, it adds up.

I usually look at the finance section of Yahoo. I can also catch the USD to KRW exchange on the Bloomberg television station. The following chart was taken from Yahoo finance a few minutes ago. This chart covers the last 5 days. It looks like the rate is improving steadily. A word of warning, it can come down much faster than it goes up.
