2012 Anseong CIOFF World Folkloriada 2012 안성 CIOFF 세계 민속 축제

My 2012 vacation plans to South Korea are coming together. I am almost positive that I will be there in October for 2 1/2 weeks. This trip will be much different from my visit this year. I plan to experience the culture and be a little open to new experience. I also want to travel further away from Seoul.

One of the events that I would like to attend is the 2012 Anseong World Folklore Festival. I went to the event this year and I had a great time. The 2012 festival is going to be much larger. It will basically be the World Folklore Olympics. This major event is held every 4 years and the 2012 event will be held in Anseong, South Korea.

Countries from around the world will be in attendance. Their performers will display their best folk dance and music routines. It will be an amazing experience. It will also be a photographer's dream.

Here are a couple photos of dance teams from the pre festival that was held in 2011 in Anseong. I think the women dressed in blue were from Japan. The men dressed in white were from South Korea. Both groups were some of the best from their respective countries.

Also, the 2011 pre festival had one stage area that was for young people. The school age children from South Korea danced. There were also drum playing groups. I personally liked the children's groups more. However, the level of skill of the adult groups was amazing and also a joy to watch.
