Several of the tall bottles are warped due to the extreme heat. The area near the fire box gets hot early into the firing and stays there until the end. These pots were held above 2000 degrees for more than 4 days. People who don't wood fire have a hard time believing that this is possible. There can be problems  if the firing goes on too long or if the pot is made out of an inferior clay body. High iron clays and some porcelains tend to have the most problems. Stoneware, especially if it contains some sand or grog works the best. I use a commercial white stoneware and I've never had a problem with the extreme conditions near the fire box.
