My goal was to buy as little material as possible while building the light box. First, I built the wooden frame out of some scrap wood. The box is 41 inches square. I chose this size due to having some 42 inch wide drawing paper.

The next problem to solve was where to place the light box. The slab roller seemed like the obvious choice. It fit perfectly. There is also plenty of room to place my tripod and camera in front of the box to take the pictures.

I wrapped the 2 sides with some white drawing that I had in the closet. The white paper will help reflect some of the light back onto the bottle and minimize the shadows around the base.

I also had a graduated photo background that I had bought a few years ago in anticipation of shooting some pottery photos. I bought it from B&H Photo. I wish it was slightly larger, but it will work just fine.

I also had 3 reflectors to hold the lights. The reflectors help concentrate the light onto the pots. These are very affordable. You can get them at most any hardware store. If you buy them from a photography store they will be very expensive.

The only thing that I actually bought for this setup was 3 light bulbs. I bought the bulbs with the highest brightness number. These are rated at 1750. I'm not sure if that matters much or not.

Here is the complete setup. I covered the lights with a piece of an old sheet. This will help diffuse the light. Otherwise, you will end up with hot spots on your pots. As soon as I get a chance, I'll start taking some photographs.
