I wasn't happy with my first photo test shoot. I guess that I should ask someone how to shoot pottery photos, but that would be too easy. So, I did a few more experimental photos. I think that I figured out a way to light the photos with leaving bright glare marks from the lights. I was able to move my lights around and basically light the pot from above. One of the lights is over the pot and two are in front of the pot shining down. This gets rid of the shadows and lights the bottom of the foot. I still need to play with the lighting a little more, but I am already satisfied with the results.

This is a photo that is lighted from head on. I tried using a product called dulling spray. It is supposed to tone down the bright spots. If it did, it was barely noticeable. I also used a circular polarizer on my camera lens. Again this only helped a small amount.

This photo was lit from above. This is how I want my pottery photos to look like. I still need to fine tune the position of the lights and the pot a little. However, I am very close to getting it just right.
