Songtan Subway Station 송탄 지하철 역

I used the subway a lot. It is the cheapest and fastest way to get from Songtan to Seoul. For less than $2 US I could travel from Songtan to the middle of Seoul. Unfortunately, it is about 30 stops away. The good part about catching the train in Songtan is that will most likely get to sit down. The Songtan Station is one of the first on Line 1.

You can access the Songtan Subway Staion from either side of the subway tracks. The staionis at the top of a hill, so you will have to walk uphill a bit. It is a short walk from Osan Air Force base to the station. These photos show what the outside of the station looks like. There are always a line of taxis waiting to take you to your destination. Taxi rates are very affordable.

You will need a T Money card to access the subway. You can buy one from any small store for less than $3 US. You need to put extra money on the card to pay the fares. I put around $20 on the card to start. I added about $10 every time the card got less than $10. I always reloaded my card at the small stores. I could figure out how to use the machines at the subway station.

To go to Seoul, you take the entrance on the left. The entrance is written in Korean, English, and I think Chinese. You go to the right if you want to go to Pyeongtaek or even down to Sincheon.

Here are a few photos down by the area where you get on the subway. When the subway is approaching, there is an alert so that you can line up for entry to the car. You are supposed to stay behind the yellow line. You will hear that warning often. These photos were taken on a Sunday morning. It is always much more crowded than this.
