Seoul Subway Maps 서울 지하철 지도

During my trip to South Korea last year, the item that I used the most was my subway map. You MUST have a subway map if you go to Seoul. You can pick one up at the airport or at a tourist office, but you can also bring your own. It is easy to print one or two of them off of the internet.

Since I have a new Ipad, I will carry one or two maps on it. I brought my small Ipod Touch with me to South Korea last year. I had the Seoul Metro Tour app on it. However, due to the small screen size, it was basically useless. I opened it up on the Ipad and it is fantastic. I can actually read the station names without my glasses. There was a small subway leg on the Songtan line that wasn't on my paper map. It is on the Seoul Metro Tour map. Also, the app is free. I will still carry a paper map. It will be hard to access the Ipad when the subway car is full.

I also have another Seoul subway app called Jihachul. It was highly recommended in the Itunes app store. It is amazing. It is much more than a simple map. It also lets you know how minutes until the next subway arrives at your station. You can also put in your starting point and destination and watch the progress on your Ipad. There is also a map of the streets and buildings when you tap on the subway station of your choice. Unfortunately, everything is in Korean. It is still useful for landmarks like the palaces and parks. Another thing that the app lets you do is search for the nearest subway station. I got lost several times in Seoul last year, this would have come in handy. There are also subway maps for the rest of the South Korean city subways, like Busan and Daegu, though I am currently having some problems loading them. This map is also free and is going to be one of my favorite apps when I am in Seoul.

Update: I uploaded the other South Korean city updates easily last night. I had to shut all of my computers off to do it. I have a serious lack of bandwidth with my internet service. I doubt anyone else will have a problem.
